Pawel Szymanski
I am a fine artist with interests in painting, printmaking and video. My current research project is based on creating visual responses to my observations of people, who are suspended in the vacuum of hypnotic repetition. I have travelled the world interviewing and recording individuals, who genuinely struggle with their existence in the context of their survival. Issy Hallam
My teaching and research centres on the application of psychological theory and research to education. I am interested in how positive psychology can be used to support all learners to flourish, particularly those with learning or mental health disabilities or difficulties. My PhD research focuses on how different psychological factors impact on students’ capacity to persist with their studies when things are tough.

Katrina Perkins
My teaching and research interests are centred around class inequality, poverty, globalisation, mass media and qualitative research. Dr Andrea Gaion
I am a marine ecotoxicologist and I have a strong interest for multidisciplinary research in the field of Marine Biology and Environmental Science. Dr Roger Hopper
Roger is the outdoor education development manager at Heatree Activity Centre and lectures at the University Centre South Devon on the FdSc Adventure Leadership, FdSc Yacht Operations and BSc (Hons) Coaching (Outdoor Leadership) degree programmes. Prior to working at Heatree and South Devon College, Roger had 25 years experience of working in outdoor learning as a multi-activity instructor, coach, trainer, residential centre manager, deputy headteacher in a pupil referral unit and outdoor learning teacher in a special needs school. His passion is the use of the outdoors to enable transformational learning. Roger is a Lead Practitioner with the Institute for Outdoor Learning and regularly publishes articles in their Horizons magazine. Roger is the creator of the National Outdoor Learning Award and he is currently supporting the development of Outdoor Trailblazer Apprenticeships.

Studied HNC/HND Boat Design and Production in Falmouth, followed by a BSc (Hons) Marine and Composites Technology at Plymouth University, graduating in 2006. Accumulated 10 Years of industry experience in Boat Design and Composites Engineering, including companies such as Princess Yachts PLC, Pipex PX and Babcock. Now a lecturer at South Devon Marine Academy in Boat Building and Marine Technologies since 2011. Studying towards PhD/M.Phil in Mechanical Engineering with Plymouth University based on “Automation and Fishing” commenced October 2018, complete approximately 2024.
