Welcome to your online induction!

Your online induction has been developed in conjunction with teaching teams and students to collate together information you need prior to your onsite induction.  

Students who complete all steps of the online induction report settling into their studies quicker and feel more confident.

The online induction consists of four steps, three you can start straight away and one after you have enrolled.  

Step One

Approximate time to complete 45 minutes

Student charter, academic practice, campus and facilities

Please follow the link above to watch a welcome from the Head of Higher Education at UCSD, read the student charter, learn about academic practice and assessment procedures, meet the HE (Higher Education) team and look at the campus and facilities! 

Step Two

Approximate time to complete 20 minutes

Student Support

Please follow the above link to find out where to go to get support, guidance and information relating to increasing your grades, managing your workload, academic writing, your mental health and wellbeing, personal tutor, planning your next steps, the academic calendar, your student ID card, council tax reduction, car parking, student accommodation and the UCSD bursary, Including declaring a learning difficulty or disability and anything that may affect your ability to study and learn!

Library

Please follow the above link to learn about the resources available to you from our library, including how to search for books and access journals and online databases. 

After you enrol

Someone from the Student Support Hub will contact you within a few days of after you enrol. 

If it is more convenient to schedule a time for this call, then please email [email protected] with a preferred day and time (Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm). If you are only available in the evening, then please let us know and we will endeavour to schedule a suitable time.  

24 hours after your enrolment you will be able to access your virtual classroom, student email, and download free Office 365 software, the details of how to do this are in step four of your online induction..

Time to complete is dependent upon your computer and internet speed

Accessing our systems 

Please follow the link above to get started with accessing our systems. This guide provides links and guidance to ensure you have the most-up to date Microsoft Office 365, download the MS Teams app, set up your student email account in the same place you retrieve your personal emails, login to your virtual classroom Moodle, and download SDConnect on your phone.
