Course Overview

You will identify and discuss a wide range of interrelated factors (physical, intellectual, emotional, social and cultural) that contribute to children’s development, learning and progressive participation in a variety of socio-cultural contexts. Careful and sensitive study of childhood and further critical examination of its origins, policy and practice, will prepare you to work effectively and sensitively with children, parents and colleagues. There is a large focus on employability, and you will undertake a work placement in your first and second year of study. This will allow you to develop essential practical skills that are supported by the theoretical knowledge you acquire during your studies.

Testimonial

During my career I have gained a broad range of skills relating to early years education and childcare, and I can now pass that knowledge on to new students. It’s fantastic to support students in achieving their goals and helping them find employment in this rewarding industry.
