The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification that has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in-service’ qualification designed if you are working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to also complete this qualification. You must have access to 100 hours of teaching, whether pre-service or in-service.
At Level 5 you will need to demonstrate a depth of knowledge and understanding. This will be reflected in:
- A critical reflection of the relationship between theory/principles and practice
- A considered and targeted approach to reading and research
- Clear evidence of substantial reading including professional publications
- An academic style of writing, in which are recognised system of referencing is followed. Writing should be concise and candidates should provide evidence of careful planning
The course will increase your knowledge and understanding of the needs and characteristics of different types of learners, including children, young adults and people with learning difficulties. You will also gain a range of effective skills for supporting teaching and learning in a team work context.
Upon successful completion of the Diploma in Education and Training students can apply for QTLS through the Education and Training Foundation.
The full time fees for the academic year 2020-21 are:
BA and BSc (Hons) – £8400 (per year)
Foundation Degree (FdA and FdSc) – £8400 (per year)
Higher National Certificate (HNC)- £8400 (per year)
Tuition fees for part-time courses commencing September 2020 are £1400 per 20 credits.
Katy has worked in secondary schools (private and public), further education (FE) and higher education (HE) environments and is qualified with a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education, QTS and QTLS. She holds a Master‚Äôs in Education and is studying for her Professional Doctorate in Education with a specialism in outdoor education. She has taught for over 10 years and developed and managed FE and HE programmes with a wide range of experience teaching across a large range of levels. She is passionate about education and supporting teachers and educators to be the best they can.
